Cookie policy

This page explains what this website puts on your device, what it is for, and how to change your mind. It sits alongside our privacy policy, which covers everything else we do with your information.

The short version

Nothing that measures you loads until you press Accept. If you press Reject, no analytics or advertising script is requested at all and no cookie is set by us. The site works exactly the same either way, and no part of it is held back behind a yes.

What we set without asking

One thing, and it holds one word.

This is not a cookie. It is never sent to us, it never leaves your browser, and it contains nothing but the word granted or denied. Remembering your answer is treated as strictly necessary under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, which is why we do not ask permission to remember it. Asking you the same question on every page would be worse for you, not better.

What we set only if you say yes

If you press Accept, we load Google Tag Manager, which in turn loads Google Analytics and may also load Google's conversion linker, a small part of Google Ads. These are Google products and Google sets the cookies, not us.

We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. The Google Ads items are there only to measure advertising: if we advertise on Google, they tell us whether an advert led to an enquiry. We do not use any of this to show you adverts, and we run no remarketing.

What is recorded is the page you are looking at, a note if you tap our phone number or our email address, and a note that an enquiry was sent, so we can see how many people get in touch and from where. We never put your name, email address, phone number, postcode or message into analytics. Those go to us by email and nowhere else, which the privacy policy explains.

The Google map on the contact page

At the foot of our contact page there is a map showing where we are. It is provided by Google and it loads with the page, so opening that page contacts Google. Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies in your browser, in the same way it would if you opened Google Maps yourself. This is the only third-party content anywhere on this site apart from the Google tools above, which load only if you press Accept.

We have no control over any of that, cannot read those cookies and receive nothing from them. What Google does with them is covered by Google's privacy policy.

The map is on that one page and nowhere else, so it is only the contact page that reaches Google this way. Our full address and phone number are written out above it, so you never need the map to find us or get in touch.

Changing your mind

You can withdraw your consent on this page. There is a control for it here, and from the moment you use it no analytics or advertising script is requested and nothing further is sent to Google. The site carries on working exactly as it did, and we do not ask you again on every page.

Withdrawing consent stops anything more being collected. It cannot reach into your browser and remove cookies Google has already set, so those stay until they expire or until you clear them, which is what the rest of this section is for.

Clearing your browsing data for this site removes them, and removes our record of your answer with them, so the question comes back the next time you visit and you can answer it the other way.

You can also refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Deleting the cookies listed above removes what Google Analytics and Google Ads have set, and blocking third-party cookies stops the map storing anything in your browser. Nothing we do depends on any of them.

If we ever add anything else

If we add anything that sets a cookie or stores anything else on your device, we will ask you first, before it is set, and update this page. We have not put anything on this site that quietly changed what it does.
