Tudor cladding
Tudor cladding recreates the black and white mock Tudor detailing found on a lot of interwar and later housing, using PVCu boards rather than painted timber.
It is the right product when a house was designed with that detailing and the original timber has gone soft, split or simply been painted so many times the profile has disappeared. Replacing it in PVCu keeps the character of the elevation without committing you to repainting it.
The finish is timeless and it can add to the value of a property where the detailing is part of what the house is.

What to think about before you choose
Matching what is there
Board widths and the pattern the timbers were set out in vary from house to house and street to street. Photographs of the original before it comes off save a great deal of guessing later.
What sits behind the boards
The render or panel between the timbers shows as much as the timbers do, so its condition and its colour are part of the job rather than an afterthought.
Do it with the roofline
The fascia, the soffit and the cladding all meet at the same point. Doing them together costs less than doing them separately and, more to the point, weathers better at the junction.
