A PVCu door is the practical, well priced choice for a back door, a side door, or a front door on a modern property. It is low maintenance, well insulated and comes in a wide range of styles, glazing designs and colours.

Security is where the specification matters, and it is where cheap doors cut corners. Ours come with Yale 3 star cylinders and lockmaster door locks with three keys as standard, and restrictors are fitted as standard to every open out door.

Handles, letter plates, hinges, knockers and numerals are all matched, so the door arrives as one piece of design rather than a collection of parts.

What to think about before you choose

Which way it opens

An outward opening door frees up floor space inside, which matters in a small hallway or a utility room. An inward opening door is easier to seal against driving rain, which matters on an exposed elevation.

Glazing and privacy

Obscure glass runs from lightly textured to very nearly opaque, and the difference between two adjacent patterns is hard to judge from a printed sheet. Ask to see a sample held up to the light.

The threshold

A standard threshold weathers best, a low one is easier to step over, and a level one gives step free access but depends on the drainage outside the door being right. Worth deciding early, because it affects the frame height.
